First Win in MLIS and RCFC History

by Louis Stephens III

Fairfield, OH -- Rapid City Football Club played in the inaugural match for Major League Indoor Soccer this past Saturday night against the Cincinnati Swerve. RCFC went on the road to GameTime Training Center as emotions were running high for the anticipation of the first match in league history.

Through the first five minutes of play, both sides were feeling each other out, then in the 6th minute Cole Russell of Rapid City FC would make history, by scoring the first goal in the league’s history.

Rapid City FC led by head coach Fabian Rodriguez would continue to dominate the night from that moment on as RCFC settled in during the first quarter run of play. Which saw them follow up with goals from Jacob Potts who would lead the night with the first league hat trick in its history.

“When we put this group of guys together this fall, we saw the individual talent, but the way they have gelled together this early, is a testament to the coaching staff and the players willingness to commit to what we are trying to accomplish”, says Club President, Louis Stephens.

Jerman Juarez tallied another goal in the first quarter, with a second goal by Russell in the fourth and a pair of goals from the league’s first contracted player Nermin Crnkic. With the final score ending in Rapid City FC (8), Cincinnati Swerve (1). Miguel Cervantes earned Man of the Match honors by holding down the back line as the goalkeeper who allowed just one goal in his first start.

Co-Owner and Board Chairman Devon Joslin said, "I am very proud of what we accomplished in our first road game as a team and as an organization. We will carry that momentum into our preparation to take on the Cleveland Crunch. Our goal isn't just to win but give our fans a great experience as well."

Rapid City FC return to action in their home opener Dec 17th at MSA Sports Spot at 6:30pm. Tickets are available at www.rapidcityfc.com/tickets. Please come out and join them as they take on the Cleveland Crunch.
